Behind the scenes of Oremus

The Cathedral's monthly magazine is a direct descendant of Westminster Cathedral Record, which was first published in 1896.

The Latin name Oremus (‘Let us pray’) was chosen some years ago to reflect the fact that Westminster Cathedral is very much a place of prayer and communion with God.

Today the team that produces Oremus is led by its Chairman, Canon Christopher Tuckwell, the Cathedral Administrator. He is aided by the Editor, Fr John Scott, who is in turn helped by a small team of dedicated volunteers and one professional Graphic Designer, Julian Game. The magazine’s volunteers are people who care about the Cathedral and are happy to offer skilled help – completely free of charge – in getting Oremus published.

Currently, the Oremus Team includes :

Tony Banks (Distribution)
Zoe Goodway (Marketing)
Eucharia Sule (Administration)
Manel Silva (Subscriptions)

These voluntary contributions – and the precious time given – are a critical component of the magazine’s continuing success.

The Patron of Oremus is the Archbishop of Westminster.

Oremus is primarily a Cathedral magazine but it has a supportive, committed readership beyond London and overseas.

Put simply, Oremus tries to reflect the joy of being a Catholic.
